Since I stumbled upon Common Purpose a few weeks ago I've contacted a number of MP's and Councillors and asked if they were aware of the organisation.
I also asked if they shared my concerns, namely that Common Purpose is politically motivated, subversive, secretive, sinister and a total sham of a charity organisation.
I will print any replies I receive on this blog and also let you know which ones didn't want to discuss it at all.

"Others have written to me about Common Purpose, which I had never heard of, and I looked at their website and asked some people about them. What would you like to say about them?
I am not aware of how much they have been paid for their courses, or how many courses they have done for the public sector, so it's a bit difficult to comment".

Tory MP for Ashford - Shadow Minister for Immigration.

"I have asked Parliamentary Questions about them; shared my concerns with the Charity Commission and there was an article about them in the Yorkshire Post a year or so ago following some research I did.
I have exposed them but it is difficult to generate much interest beyond that which has been done so far.
It is not the biggest problem facing the country".
Philip Davies - Tory MP for Shipley

"Thank you for your email regarding the activities of Common Purpose. Mr Ashworth read your email with great interest and asked me to reply on his behalf. I must also apologise for the lateness of this reply, this is my fault alone.
Before receiving your email Richard was unaware of Common Purpose and its role in training the next generation of civic and business leaders.
After some careful investigation into the role and activities of Common Purpose Richard has concluded that it is a harmless, if perhaps low key, organisation. However, as it based in the UK and does not receive EU funding for its activities Richard asked me to advise you to contact you local MP for further assistance and advice.
I hope that this answers your questions, thank you again for contacting Mr Ashworth.
Yours sincerely,
Emma Gurrey
On Behalf of Richard Ashworth - Conservative MEP for SE England

Thank you for your recent email, which Caroline has asked me to respond to on her behalf. I am sorry for the delay in doing so. Caroline is aware of Common Purpose but more by reputation rather than as a result of any direct involvement. As an MEP, she has no authority over the regulations concerning charities or their reporting requirements, so if you have concerns she can only suggest that you contact the Charities Commission.
I am sorry we cannot help on this occasion.
Kind regards,
Cath Miller.
For Caroline Lucas MEP for the Green Party for SE England.
